PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS

Photovoltaic systems operate on the principle of photovoltaic conversion of solar radiation that is done on the solar cells. They are made of semiconductor materials. Photovoltaic system is a system which provides DC, AC or both DC and AC supply power. Systems that perform the conversion of solar radiation and electric and thermal energy are called multi-functional, or hybrid systems.  Photovoltaic cell is a device that converts solar radiation into direct current.

    Photovoltaic systems can be :

1. Stand-alone solar systems - which are used where there is no possibility of supply    networks
2. Network-connected solar electric systems
3. Auxiliary systems

The main purpose of all three types of systems is the production of electricity.
